The resources available through Biobank Mississippi are intended to serve the needs of researchers both internal and external to UMMC. Any investigator is encouraged to apply to use Biobank Mississippi samples. For more information on how to access the samples, clinical data or both, contact UMMC Biobank at (601) 815-3174.

This is a resource for researchers internal and external to UMMC. All investigators are encouraged to apply.
Applications are reviewed by the Joint Biobank Access Committee based upon these criteria:
- Scientific excellence
- Alignment with institutional goals
- Potential to improve patient care
- Number of subjects and amount and type of sample requested
- Overlap with active projects
- Projects developed by members of divisions and departments from which patients were recruited
- Investigative team productivity; other projects (and outcomes) using the UMMC Biobank Research addressing serious health problems (globally or nationally)
- Funding source

UMMC Biobank
The UMMC Biobank provides state-of-the-art biospecimen processing and storage services.
We also provide a variety of laboratory and storage services through several laboratories:
- The Biofluids and Tissue Procurement Laboratory provide specimen procurement, processing, nucleic acid extraction, electronic biospecimen tracking, storage and shipping services.
- The Histology Research Core Laboratory offers histological and tissue-based services.
We also provide access to analytic laboratory services, including sequencing, genotyping, and expression, flow cytometry and biomarker assessment labs.
